Landscape Photography: the view over I-70

Landscape Photography: the view over I-70

Down I-70, where the buffalo roam, there is an exit that crosses over the interstate and the view is just breathtaking.  "Purple mountains majesty", indeed.  I've just never seen scenery like this before.  I am excited to grow my landscape photography portfolio here!

Growing up below sea level, our biggest hill was Monkey Hill, at the levee behind Audubon Zoo.  It's manmade, and what, like 20 feet high.  It's totally the coolest.  I remember rolling down Monkey Hill, completely dizzy when I reached the bottom, staggering around with grass stains on my knees.

But then we moved here, where even the local Walmart has a view of the mountains just from the parking lot.  There are spectacular sunsets,  colorful rays of light beaming though mountain haze.

This particular summer night, the sun peaked through and illuminated the clouds and light speckled patches of the mountains below.  The clouds here have some formations that I don't think I have seen before.  As I said, just breathtaking.

I am so proud of this landscape.  I had to wait very patiently until not a single car was passing before I could take my shot... right ;)  My client ordered a very large 30x60 metal print of this, and the color is just stunning.  I may need to order one for my own home.
