About Me

Hello!  I'm Mimi, and I am the owner and photographer of Mimi Agee Photography.  I am a new resident of Lantana, TX!  I am a full service photographer, specializing in family, children and newborn portraiture.  I am proud to provide my clients with a boutique experience, creating custom art pieces that will be treasured for years to come.

I am a New Orleanian, born and raised.  My husband and I moved from Louisiana to Colorado with our two boys in 2015, and then from Colorado to New Mexico in 2018. In 2020, mid-pandemic, we moved again to Illinois, and finally in 2023 we settled in Texas.  While I am completely in awe of the beauty of the places we have lived, there is truly no place like home. We do things a little differently down south.

I grew up riding the streetcar to the French Quarter, under the dappled shade of massive oak trees that line St. Charles Avenue.  In the spring time, those same trees glitter with thousands of strings of shiny beads, thrown haphazardly from Mardi Gras floats. I spent many weekends fishing and boating, ever watchful of alligators and snakes.

My husband and I were married in New Orleans under a blue roof in December of 2005.  Just a few months earlier, Hurricane Katrina had wreaked havoc on the south.  There were still blue tarps on almost every roof of the lucky houses that were not flooded when the levees broke. 

Like many other photographers, I started my photography journey after my sons were born.  The pictures that I have of that time are snapshots of our hectic life, freezing time and showing emotion and connection.  They are not great photographs, by any means, but they are so very precious to me.  From this point on, I started to study what made the difference between snapshots and portraits.  

I opened up my business, Mimi Agee Photography, in November of 2014, after several years of practice, trial and error, refining my skills both with the camera and in post processing my images.

Each move presented me with a new kind of majestic backdrop for portraits, from the mountains of Colorado, the brilliant pink Sandias in Albuquerque, the lush landscape of Illinois and the endless skies in Texas.  We just don't quite have this kind of scenery back home, below sea level.
