Kids Photography: Sword Fight

Pretty sure there is not a stick in existence my boys don't like.  Funny story: I remember one afternoon that Aidan had scoured our backyard, looking for the perfect stick.  He found it.  It was his "most favorite best stick ever"...

I'm also pretty sure there is not a stick in existence that my boxador does not like.  She will also run around the yard picking out the best stick.  After Aidan had found his most favorite best stick ever, I made him leave it outside, and the dog did find it and apparently agreed that it was a great stick.  She chewed it all up.

Next day, Aidan went out looking for his stick, and found the carnage.  He decided that he didn't like her anymore, because she ate his stick.  All I could say was, "Buddy, she's a dog, that's kinda what they do!"  He laughed and made up with her and found a new stick (and hid it).

Anyway, this frigid afternoon I brought Riley and Aidan out for a quick shoot.  I had a kids photography assignment due and couldn't wait for warmer weather.  We were freezing.  I think we were outside for 20 minutes, then we ran inside for hot chocolate!

I love to watch kids' minds and imaginations at work when given something so simple.  A stick can be so many things.  My boys immediately found great sticks and proceeded to have an epic sword fight.  Sound effects and some seriously awesome moves kept them warm.
